Habitat Assessments

Macroinvertebrate and fish community structures and functions are driven by many confounding factors. Changes in habitats can lead to drastic changes in both the community structure and function. A comprehensive habitat assessment is used to quantify the differences between sampling stations. It represents yet another tool that BMI uses to fully assess the data and differentiate between natural variation and anthropogenic factors.
